On Tuesday, April 14, the Seattle Torrent took on the Vancouver Goldeneyes in Vancouver in the third matchup between the two expansion teams in the 2025-26 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season. The Goldeneyes won the two previous games.Â
Vancouver scored early, thanks to a goal from Sarah Nurse two minutes into the contest. They then scored three goals in the second period, including two 33 seconds apart. The Torrent rallied in the third, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. The Goldeneyes beat the Torrent 4-1.Â
Jackson Recorded Their First Minutes with Seattle
Corinne Schroeder was the starter for the Torrent, making 11 saves on 15 shots through one-and-a-half periods, but the two goals 33 seconds apart in the second ended her night. After the Goldeneyes scored their fourth goal, head coach Steve O’Rourke pulled Schroeder in favor of CJ Jackson.Â
This game marked Jackson’s first minutes since they signed a one-year contract with Seattle during the offseason. Jackson stopped all nine shots they faced and helped keep Seattle in the game through 29 minutes of play.
Jackson previously played for Toronto, but they only played one regular-season and one playoff game for them in 2024-25. The Torrent have been relying on both Schroeder and Hannah Murphy as their goaltending duo, but they shouldn’t count Jackson out.
Grant-Mentis Put the Torrent on the Board
Lexie Adzija had the puck at the blue line 11 minutes into the third frame. She passed it to Mariah Keopple at the boards, who passed it down to Mikyla Grant-Mentis. Grant-Mentis took the slap shot from the face-off circle to put the Torrent on the board.Â

This goal marked her third of the season, tying her previous high, scored with the Montreal Victoire last season. Grant-Mentis also has six points, two shy of her career-high. She missed several games earlier in the campaign due to an injury, but she could still tie her career-high with three games remaining in the regular season.
Torrent Kick Into the Gold Plan
With their loss to the Goldeneyes, the Torrent became the first team to officially be eliminated from the playoffs, with 26 points. However, they also became the first team to compete in the Gold Plan. Every point the Torrent picks up in their final games gets converted into a draft point. Whichever eliminated team has the most draft points at the end of the season earns the right to pick first overall in the 2026 PWHL Entry Draft.
The 2026 Draft class is stacked with talent, both at the collegiate level and from overseas. The Torrent are setting themselves up to have the first pick as they look ahead to next season.
Torrent Head Home For Final Three Games
The Torrent head back to Seattle for their final three games, including a rematch with the Goldeneyes on Saturday, April 18, who are just ahead of them in the standings with 30 points. This game also closes out the season series between the two teams. The Torrent then host the Minnesota Frost on Wednesday, April 22, and the Montreal Victoire on Saturday, April 25, to close out the campaign. Both the Frost and the Victoire have already clinched their playoff berths.
