Holloway Re-Signs After Two Productive Seasons

Holloway has spent two seasons with the Blues since joining the organization via offer sheet in August 2024. In 136 games with the Blues, Holloway has scored 48 goals and recorded 114 points. Had he not missed time with injuries in both seasons, he likely would have been a 30-goal scorer.

In 59 games this past season, Holloway scored 22 goals, but got red hot after the Olympics. Holloway recorded 34 points, which was seventh best in the NHL. As the season was winding down, many wondered if the Blues would give Holloway a bridge deal or go ahead and sign him to a long-term deal. It appears the two sides have agreed to meet in the middle.

Blues Solidify Top Line

The Holloway, Robert Thomas, and Jimmy Snuggerud line was one of the best lines in the NHL late in the season. The Blues now have this line under contract for multiple more seasons.

With Snuggerud taking a lot of the attention as the top prospect in his rookie season, and Thomas showing once again he is an elite center in the league, Holloway was definitely the lesser noticed of the three. However, Holloway’s playmaking ability helped the line flourish. This can be seen in the team’s final five games of the season, where Holloway recorded two goals and five points in that stretch.

Holloway Gets Payday Before His Prime

At 24 years old, Holloway has not even entered the prime of his career yet. If he can continue to be the player he has been (and even exceed that) he will be in for another payday when this contract expires when he turns 29.

Armstrong’s Boldest Acquisitions Are Under Long-Term Deals

General manager (GM) Doug Armstrong has made many big moves in his career. His boldest was his decision to offer sheet Holloway and Broberg and pry them away from the Edmonton Oilers. Given how both have performed in their two seasons wearing the Blue Note, alongside their extensions, the door is open for this to possibly be Armstrong’s best move as GM, which is saying something.

Time will tell how this story ends, but for now, the Blues have another key member of their team locked up as they look to build towards being a contender once again.
