A project blueliner with an NHL body in the making, Adam Goljer is now playing first-pairing minutes against men in the top Slovakia league, certainly a good sign for any team that has his name on its notes. The Trencin native is a solid d-man without elite offensive skills, but he gets the job done with his solidity, mobility, and consistency.
He has shown he can join the rush, but it remains to be seen whether he can do so consistently at the professional level. He certainly has the speed, but may lack the skill set to produce on a regular basis. The lack of clear offensive potential may scare off some teams on draft day. Goljer has gained valuable experience this season, playing for a struggling HK Dukla Trencin side that had to fight for survival in the relegation round. Even in such a high-pressure environment, the young defenseman logged significant ice time.

While he may not be a sure-fire first-round pick, Goljer has NHL teams after him with his blend of size, mobility, and shooting abilities. His composure in the defensive zone is appealing, but he will need some seasoning to become a serious NHL candidate. His contract in Slovakia runs out this summer; thus, a move overseas is not to be excluded.

NHL Potential

He has a long path in front of himself, but making good choices and working hard can get him much closer to his goal.
