Lightning Week Ahead: Schedule & Storylines – Stadium Series, Roster Shuffles, Streak Snapped and More – The Hockey Writers – Tampa Bay Lightning

by Marcelo Moreira

Here are the key storylines for the Tampa Bay Lightning and their upcoming schedule for the week of Jan. 26 – Feb. 2, 2026.

The “Stadium Series” Outdoor Game

The biggest event of the season is finally here. The Lightning will conclude their week by hosting the Boston Bruins outdoors at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, Feb. 1. This “Battle of the Atlantic” on NFL turf is expected to draw a massive crowd and is a critical game for division positioning.

Injury Crisis on the Blue Line

The team is limping into this week after a physically costly loss to Columbus on Saturday. Defenseman Erik Cernak exited early after a heavy hit, and breakout defenseman Charle-Edouard D’Astous has been placed on Injured Reserve (knee). With star forward Brayden Point already on IR, the depth is being severely tested.

15-Game Point Streak Snapped

The Lightning are looking to bounce back after their franchise-highlight 15-game point streak ended Saturday in an 8-5 loss to the Blue Jackets. Despite the loss, the team remains red-hot, having dominated the majority of January to climb within striking distance of the Detroit Red Wings for 1st place in the Atlantic Division.

Roster Shuffles

To plug the holes left by injuries, the Lightning have recalled forwards Curtis Douglas and Jakob Pelletier, as well as defenseman Max Groshev from Syracuse. All eyes will be on how the defense holds up against heavy-hitting opponents like Winnipeg and Boston this week.
