Monday, March 30, was the trade deadline for the 2025-26 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season. There were only a handful of trades this season, including a major six-player trade between the Ottawa Charge and the Vancouver Goldeneyes.

Right before the deadline, the New York Sirens and the Minnesota Frost completed a trade, sending defender Jincy Roese of the Sirens to the Frost. In exchange, the Sirens received forward Denisa Krizova. Let’s look at Krizova’s career in the PWHL so far and how she can improve the Sirens’ lineup.
Krizova’s Time in Minnesota
Krizova was selected 48th overall by Minnesota in the 2023 PWHL Draft. She recorded six points in her first season with Minnesota, playing all 24 games. She recorded her first two assists on Jan. 10, 2024. It took her 12 more games to record another assist, and then in the next game, she scored her first two PWHL goals. She closed out the last game of the 2024 regular season by adding another goal to her tally. She played in the 10 postseason games with Minnesota and scored two goals.
Krizova remained with the Frost for the 2024-25 season and played all 30 games. She recorded a career-high point total of nine, via four goals and five assists. She had another multi-goal game, but has yet to record her first PWHL hat trick. Two goals, as it is, is a huge accomplishment. The Frost made the postseason again in their second season, and Krizova played eight games but didn’t record a point.
Ahead of the 2025-26 season, there was a lot of stuff that had to happen during the offseason, as this was the first season the PWHL introduced two new teams into the league. In the expansion draft, Krizova was claimed by Vancouver. However, she never played for them, because she was traded back to Minnesota in exchange for rookie Anna Segedi before the start of the season.
So far in the 2025-26 season, she has played all 23 games and has recorded five points via one goal and four assists. She has yet to miss a game in her PWHL career.
Krizova’s Expected Impact With the Sirens
With the addition of Krizova to the lineup, one might be wondering what she will add to the Sirens team. New York desperately needed to add a forward. They are down Taylor Girard, likely for the remainder of the season, and they just placed Kristyna Kaltounkova on long-term injured reserve (LTIR), so she won’t be expected back until the end of the regular season.
With the Frost, Krizova played in the bottom six. With the Sirens, her position could change. The entire lineup could shift now that Clair DeGeorge just made her debut on March 25, playing in two games with the team. Regardless of where she ends up in the lineup, Krizova will add offense to the Sirens, a team that is currently struggling in that department. She is a solid depth player and will benefit New York greatly.
Krizova also brings with her postseason experience, as she helped Minnesota take home the Walter Cup twice. The Sirens are trying to make a push for the playoffs, as they are not out of this race quite yet. If the Sirens make it this season, this would be the first time they make the playoffs, and they would make sure all of the original six teams have made it at least once. If the Sirens do make it, hopefully Krizova can share her experience in the postseason to help New York go far.
Krizova Will Make Her Debut Against Her Former Team
The Sirens will return to the Prudential Center on Wednesday, April 1, to host the Frost. The two teams that just completed the last trade before the deadline will face off against one another, making this contest all the more interesting.
