Wild Week Ahead: Schedule & Storylines – Team Improvements & Bogosian Injured – The Hockey Writers – Minnesota Wild

by Syndicated News

The Minnesota Wild finally had a solid week in terms of wins and losses. They played three games and came out with three wins. One of those wins was at home, while the other two were back-to-back wins on the road against teams that were fighting for spots in the postseason. The first win of the week started it off on the right foot and clinched the Wild a position in the playoffs.

That game was also the first home game since the news of Jessi Pierce and her children’s deaths went public. There was a beautiful tribute left for her in her pressbox seat, and items were added as the evening went on. This week, the Wild will be back home for one game before they again head on the road. Here are a couple of storylines to follow for the week of Apr. 6 – Apr. 13.

Wild’s Bogosian Injured

While the Wild found a way to get wins this past week, they also lost one of their solid players on the blue line.Zach Bogosian was injured during their win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, Apr. 4. According to a post by Michael Russo of The Athletic, Bogosian was hurt when another player dodged his hit and is listed as day-to-day.

Bogosian is more of a stay-at-home type defenseman who doesn’t tally a lot of points, but he fits in well with the rest of the lineup. He steps up to block shots, and clearly, he’s not afraid to throw his body around, which is the cause of his recent injury. Luckily for the Wild, they have other defensemen like Jeff Petry who can slot into the open spot, but the faster Bogosian recovers, the better.

Wild Improve Game

Last week, it was mentioned how the Wild had to focus on playing their game, and they did just that. They improved their overall efforts, and everything else followed suit. The only exception was their game against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday, Apr. 5. They still got the win, but they gave up a three-goal lead and had to score in the final two minutes to steal the win.

Their game has been more energized as of late, and before they gave up the three goals against the Red Wings, they looked pretty solid. They moved the puck quickly and efficiently, something they need to continue to do. Hopefully, they can keep improving their game as the postseason gets closer and closer.
