The Winnipeg Jets have signed undrafted forward Lucas Wahlin to a one-year deal.

Wahlin, 24, spent the past four seasons with the University of St. Thomas, which is located in Saint Paul, Minnesota and is part of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The right-shooter posted a league-leading 21 goals and 18 assists for 39 points in 26 games this season and has served as captain for the past three campaigns; he recorded 56 goals and 75 assists for 131 points in 137-career games with the Tommies since joining them for the 2022-23 season.

Born in Woodbury, Minnesota, Wahlin stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 160 pounds. His two-way deal, worth $850,000 in the NHL, will begin next season. He has signed an amateur try-out contract with the Manitoba Moose, the Jets American Hockey League affiliate, for the remainder of this season, the Jets organization wrote in a press release.

Wahlin is not the first mid-20s undrafted player the Jets have signed out of a U.S. college as Brandon Tanev and Parker Ford made their professional debuts with the Jets after spending time in college hockey. Current Jets Alex Iafallo and Neal Pionk were also undrafted and opted for the college route before signing as free agents with NHL teams.
