Winnipeg Jets’ Nikita Chibrikov & Elias Salomonsson Undergo Surgeries – The Hockey Writers – Winnipeg Jets

by Syndicated News

Winnipeg Jets prospects Nikita Chibrikov and Elias Salomonsson have undergone surgeries, as per Manitoba Moose head coach Mark Morrison. The pair will not be available to the Moose for the remainder of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Chibrikov, the Jets 2021-second rounder, underwent a core-muscle surgery to repair an issue that “popped up” after the Jets season ended, and the expected recovery time is six-to-eight weeks. The right winger scored six goals and added 10 assists for 16 points in 53 games for the Moose this season and had zero points in 11 games for the Jets.

Salomonsson, the Jets 2022 second-rounder, underwent shoulder surgery and is expected to be sidelined for five-to-six months. The defenseman sustained the injury when he crashed into the boards in the third period of the Moose’s First Round Game 2 2-1 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals on April 24.

Salomonsson split time between the Moose and Jets this season, playing 29 with the Moose and recording one goal and eight assists for nine points and playing in first 32-career NHL games with the Jets over two different call-ups and recording one goal and four assists for five points.

One of the best storylines to develop out of the Jets’ disappointing season was his rapid ascension to a dependable, everyday NHL defenseman. The Jets will hope he is recovered for training camp in September or the early part of the 2026-27 season.

The Moose begin the best-of-five Central Division Semifinals series versus the Grand Rapids Griffins on May 2.
