The Chicago Blackhawks finished their 2025-26 campaign 31st in the league, with a record of 29-39-14 and 72 points. It was an improvement from last season’s totals of 25-46-11 (61 points), but the organization had more progress in mind when they embarked on this campaign. The good news is the Blackhawks finished with more wins and more points than the previous season. They also feel they’ve taken positive strides in the growth and development of a plethora of young players, who could be a big part of a more successful future.
In this summer series, we’ll hand out individual grades to every player on the team. Today we highlight prospect Sacha Boisvert.
Boisvert’s Season Stats
1 goal, 1 assist, 2 points, minus-1 in 7 games played. Average time on ice (ATOI) of 9:15 minutes
43.6 Corsi For Percentage (at Even Strength) (CF%), 1 blocked shots, 9 hits, 0 takeaways, 4 giveaways, 9 penalty minutes
37.8 Faceoff Percentage (FO%)
Contract Status: Entry-Level Contract (ELC) runs through the 2027-28 season, $966,667 cap hit
Season Overview
It would be easy to give Boisvert an incomplete grade since he only played in seven games at the tail end of the year. After his season ended at Boston University, the 2024 first-round pick (18th overall) signed his entry-level contract with the Blackhawks on Mar. 16. He was available for 11 games after his visa issues were resolved, but the Blackhawks only dressed him in seven. Head coach Jeff Blashill indicated he would start the young prospect out slowly. He wanted him to get a feel for things, and then also sit out and learn from watching.
Considering this limited usage, it was hard for Boisvert to find his groove. He only averaged 9:15 minutes of ice time, mostly centering the fourth line alongside Teuvo Teravainen and Landon Slaggert. Nevertheless, there were positives to take away from his play. Albeit in seven games, Boisvert accomplished a Gordie Howe hat trick of a goal, an assist and a fight.
The fight came first, in his second NHL game (Mar. 27) against New York Rangers’ Will Borgen.

The fighting comes as no surprise. Boisvert’s dad owns a boxing gym, and he grew up training and competing there (from ‘How boxing helped turn Blackhawks pick Sacha Boisvert into a top NHL Draft prospect’, The Athletic – 5/24/2024). Blashill stressed that he likes the physicality Boisvert brings to the table. The 20-year-old also registered nine hits throughout his first seven NHL games.
Boisvert’s first NHL goal came in his fifth game. It also ended up being the game-winning goal in a 4-2 win over the Seattle Kraken on Apr. 4. Since that was the only winning contest Boisvert has played in so far in his NHL career, it must have been pretty special.

“Yeah, obviously we kind of had a good shift there going on,” said Boisvert after the game. “And I think everyone contributed, whether it was on the forecheck, and then Slaggert made a good play to (Kevin) Korchinski, and then Kor just gave it to me and I just put it in.”
Finally, the young prospect earned his first NHL assist in his seventh game, which turned out to be his last outing of the season (Apr. 11 versus the St. Louis Blues). On the play, Boisvert made a heads up pass to Ilya Mikheyev, who then used his speed to take care of the rest.

Coach Blashill commended Boisvert for getting better with each game, and said he feels things had slowed down for him a little bit. This is obviously a positive sign that the young prospect got more comfortable as he went along. This experience down the stretch run of this season should be an asset for him in training camp come September.
Quotable Quote
Coach Blashill on Boisvert ahead of his NHL debut:
I think he’s a guy who can bring up physicality, he can bring an edge to our team. But with skill; he’s not void of that. He’s got good hands, he’s got a really good shot. So he can be a power forward with skill. If that’s what he becomes, he’s a commodity on our team, within our young prospects, and he’s a commodity in the league.
Boisvert’s Final Grade: C+
Boisvert showed promise in his seven-game stint this season, but he’s also still a pretty raw prospect. He will likely be with the Rockford IceHogs next season, or at least start the year there. But he has the potential to be a physical player who can bring an edge, while also being an offensive threat.
